The short version
HypeChart is run by HypeChart. We keep as little about you as we can. You can watch the chart without telling us who you are. If you make an account or subscribe, we keep what that needs and no more. We don't sell your data, and we never post, like or follow anything on Instagram, TikTok or YouTube for you.
Accounts
An account on HypeChart is light. There is no password. If you sign up, we store the name, email, handle and, if you add one, phone number you give us, under a random ID kept in a cookie in your browser.
A paid plan belongs to the email used at checkout. To use your plan in another browser or on another device, you sign in with that email and a 6-digit code we send to it. The code works for 10 minutes and is stored only as a one-way code that cannot be read back.
On your device
Your profile picture (the Hype you picked), the creators you follow, the creators you hid, your settings, whether you have seen the tour and where you left off in the feed are stored in your browser. They stay on your device, and clearing your browser data removes them.
Likes and saves
Likes and saves are stored on our servers under the random ID in your cookie, not under your name or email, so they stay with that browser.
Hype Pro
Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. We keep your plan, its status, when it renews or ends, the email Stripe shares with us, Stripe's ID for you, and a signed cookie that turns your plan on in your browser. Stripe's own privacy policy covers what Stripe keeps.
We email you a sign-in code when you ask for one, and a spreadsheet when you ask for an export to be sent to you. Exports go through Resend to the email on your subscription, or to the address you type when your plan has none. We don't keep the file or the address you type; Resend keeps a delivery log for a limited time.
We send no email to free visitors beyond a sign-in code you ask for. With a plan, we email you the daily chart if you signed in or joined the list, and a note when your account needs one, like a failed payment. Every daily chart email has a way to stop them.
Text alerts
Text alerts are not offered yet. Once they are, if you turn them on in Settings, we keep your mobile number, the exact words you agreed to and when, the country your connection came from and the ID of your Pro pass if you have one. We never keep your IP address for this. To check the number is yours we text a 6-digit code, and we keep that code only as a one-way code that cannot be read back.
Texts go out through Twilio, which gets your number and each message only to deliver it. No mobile information is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We never sell your number or your text consent, and never share them with anyone for their marketing.
Reply STOP to any text, or turn texts off in Settings, and we stop right away. Reply HELP for help. We keep a note that you opted out so we never text you again by mistake. To have your number removed completely, email labs@hypechart.app.
A cookie called hc_sms remembers which sign-up this browser made. It holds a scrambled key and the last two digits of your number, never the number itself.
Find your Hype score
When you look up an account, we read its public profile and newest Reels, either directly from Instagram, through Instagram's official API, or through a data provider, and keep that public result for about 30 minutes so a second look does not read Instagram again. We don't tie the accounts you look up to your name or email. A follower count you type is used for that answer only and is not stored. Looked-up public accounts may be added to the creators the chart tracks.
Claiming a page
If you claim your page, we keep the email you give us and the code you used, only to reach you about your page. When you verify by commenting on our post, we read the public comments on that post to find your code. It is never shown publicly.
Reports and copyright notices
When you report a video, we keep the video, the reason and your note, and a one-way code that tells one reporter from another without saying who they are. A copyright notice carries the details the law asks for (your name, address, phone, email and signature). We keep it as a record and pass it to the creator whose video it concerns, as the law requires.
Featured spot requests
If you ask about a Featured spot, we use your email only to reply to you.
Analytics
We keep our own record of how HypeChart is used. It holds the pages and buttons you use, the site or ad that sent you, and a random ID kept in your browser. It also holds your country and city, worked out from your connection, and your device type, screen size, language, time zone and plan. It holds no name and no email. Your IP address is never stored: a one-way code made from it, which changes every day and cannot be turned back into the address, tells one visitor from another. We keep the detailed record for 30 days, then only daily totals.
We may also use analytics tools, like Google Analytics and advertising pixels, to understand how HypeChart is used and to measure our own ads. Visitors in the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland are asked first. Nothing is recorded or loaded until they accept.
YouTube
HypeChart uses YouTube API Services to show YouTube Shorts and, for Pro, the public comments on them. It reads only public YouTube data, like a video's title, channel, counts and comments, never your YouTube or Google account. Counts are kept for no more than 30 days and comments for no more than 7.
When you play a Short, it runs in YouTube's embedded player (the privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie.com version), which can store cookies and data on your device, and the Google Privacy Policy applies to it. HypeChart and its players use cookies and your browser's storage as described on this page.
HypeChart never asks for access to your Google account. You can review or revoke the access any app has at Google's security settings. Questions: labs@hypechart.app.
TikTok
Most TikToks play from a copy HypeChart keeps. When one plays in TikTok's embedded player instead, that player can store cookies and data on your device under TikTok's privacy policy. HypeChart reads only public TikTok data through a data provider, including public comments for Pro, and never your TikTok account. Comments are kept for no more than 7 days.
About creators
HypeChart shows public information creators have posted on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, like their handle, picture, public counts, captions and bio. For Instagram Reels on the chart we keep a copy of the video, its cover and a few still frames, so the Reel can play and be analyzed in the app. Labels such as niche, language, country and whether a video looks made with AI are our own estimates.
We may share rankings on our own social accounts and name the creators on them. Creators can ask us to correct or remove anything about them, to delete our copy of a video, or to leave them out of our posts, at any time and without giving a reason. Copyright owners can send a notice as described on our copyright page.
Children
HypeChart is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child gave us information, write to labs@hypechart.app and we will delete it.
Your choices
Clear your browser data to remove what is stored on your device. To delete your account details, a claim, a Pro record, a request, or anything else we hold, email labs@hypechart.app and we will remove it. California residents can ask what we hold about them and have it deleted or corrected; we don't sell or share personal information, and we don't treat you differently for asking.
